Overview

Give Up, Robot is a twitchy platformer starring a robot that is woken up in a corrupted testing environment. He needs to complete several small levels by reaching the right side of the screen. The robot can be moved around and jump. Holding the button for a longer time results in a higher jump. The main game mechanic is a grappling hook. The robot can fire it off to grapple to specific surfaces. Once attached, he can swing left or right to gain speed and move up or down to decrease or increase the grapple length. Initially it is only used to cross gaps, but later in the game more difficult challenges are introduced. These include temporary blocks, moving platforms, blades that spin quickly, explosive surfaces, and narrow passages. There is an unlimited amount of retries and the grappling hook can be fired off quickly in succession, even though it only has a limited range and always extends itself in an angle of about 45 degrees left or right (depending on the direction the robot is looking). After every ten levels, the total time, score and amount of completed levels is shown. Scores can be submitted to an online board.
