Overview

Although it offers more direct gameplay, Ginormo Sword is basically a graphical interpretation of Progress Quest, a metagame like You Have to Burn the Rope or Achievement Unlocked where the layout and design of the game is more telling than the actual gameplay. This title generally mocks RPGs or MMORPGs where gameplay is looped endlessly in the search for bigger and better swords. Ginormo Sword takes this literally, as the player cannot only acquire new weapons, but also change the range, height and width to disproportional size. The game takes place in enclosed areas on a larger map that is revealed gradually. The character is moved with the mouse while fighting is done through clicking. Each key location on the map holds an instance with enemies. Defeated ones leave behind gold that can be exchanged for upgraded abilities and characteristics, new weapons, magic spells and more. After fighting the boss character in a certain section, a new area is opened up. Aside from the upgrades and variation in enemies, the gameplay remains identical throughout the game, testing the player's ability to deal with rinse-and-repeat until bored. Because upgrades cost lots of gold, instances need to be revisited multiple times.
