Overview
Mahjong Gakuen 2: Gakuen-chou no Fukushuu (translating to Mahjong Academy 2: Revenge of The Chancellor) is a Japanese arcade video game released in October 1989. Developed by Capcom legend Yoshiki Okamoto and published by Face (with distribution/licensing associated with Yuga), it is famously known as a pioneer in the "erotic" or "undressing" (srip) mahjong genre.
The game follows up on the 1988 original Mahjong Gakuen. The core gameplay involves head-to-head Mahjong against various female opponents. If the player wins, they are rewarded with uncovering increasingly explicit images of the character.
Because of its explicit nature, the game sparked considerable controversy when ported to home consoles. For instance, the PC Engine home port—initially released with uncensored nudity under the title Mahjong Gakuen Touma Soushirou Toujou—faced immediate public outcry, forcing the developers to quickly pull it from shelves and re-release a toned-down version replacing nudity with swimwear.
