Super Stellar Trek

Overview

Super Stellar Trek is a 1-player space-themed strategy game for the Apple II. It is an Enhanced version of the earlier game "A Stellar Trek" also released by Rainbow Computing in 1980.

The player controls the USS Enterprise as they try to eliminate all of the Klingon vessels which threaten the Federation. The player's actions are timed, as they explore a large galaxy arrayed into 64 quadrants in an 8 x 8 grid. Each quadrant is an 8 x 8 grid, which can contain Romulan vessels, black holes, space stations, and planets. The player names the officer who controls the various ship stations, and the player must enact ship repairs, operate the helm, weapons, and other aspects of the ship to control its function. The Enterprise is armed with phasors and a limited torpedo supply to battle enemy vessels. The player can visit a variety of planets via shuttle craft or transporter, and can mine for dilithium crystals on these sites. All command are entered via text prompts. The player controls the length of their game, which effects the relative size of the galaxy, and chooses from 5 difficulty levels.
