3D Invaders

Overview

Published in the book 36 Challenging Games For The BBC Micro by Tim D. Rogers and Chris Callender, published by Interface Publications.

A game that presents 3D space in a rather unusual way. At the bottom of the screen is the player’s cannon, which is used to fire a projectile by pressing the ENTER key, and then detonate it once it reaches an alien by pressing the SHIFT key. The aliens move forwards, changing colour the closer they get to the player’s base. At the top of the screen, there is a colour key showing the aliens’ colours depending on their distance. If an alien reaches level eight, it will fire a shot at the player, thereby ending the game. For shooting down an alien, the player receives a number of points proportional to its distance from the player’s base. The further away the alien is, the more points the player receives for shooting it down.
