Hell Revealed II

Overview

Hell Revealed II (HR2) is a 32-map megawad for Doom II. The name implies it is a direct sequel to the legendary Hell Revealed, but neither of the mappers who made the original were involved in this project. Instead, HR2 was made by a team of 14 members led by Jonas Feragen with the original Hell Revealed mapper Yonatan Donner's approval.[1]. Released in December 2003, HR2 was considered one of the most difficult mapsets at the time and a worthy sequel. It won a Cacoward in 2004.

HR2 had a long gestation, with development beginning in 1998. A "beta" with 17 maps was released in February 2000, but several years passed before Andy Olivera pulled the project together and released the final version. This included Olivera reusing one of his older maps as MAP28.
