Mayjinsen

Overview

Mayjinsen (often spelled Meijinsen) is a classic Japanese Shogi (Japanese chess) arcade video game series developed and published by Seta. Originally released in arcades in December 1994, the game features competitive blitz shogi matches against computer AI or opponents.

The original title, Hayazashi Shougi Gogatsu Mayjinsen, translates to "Quick Shogi Championship Series". It ran on specialized hardware featuring a Zilog Z80 and V810 CPU. The series saw multiple updates, including Mayjinsen 2 (1994) and Honkaku Hayasashi Shougi Meijinsen 3 (1999), which was released for the Nintendo/Seta Aleck 64 arcade hardware platform.
