Overview

Masque Caribbean Stud Poker is an officially licensed simulation of a casino card game for 1 - 4 players where either the computer or real people can take the role of players 2,3 & 4. The game starts with each player placing a bet or "Ante" in the treasure chest lid area of the table. The cards are then dealt, all the player(s) cards are dealt face down but the top card of the dealers hand is placed face up. Each player in turn decides whether their hand will beat the dealers. If the player thinks there's a chance of beating the dealer they choose to bet on their hand which causes chips to the value of the original bet to be transferred from their stack to the table. If the player does not think they can beat the dealer then they fold and lose their original bet. The dealer then reveals their cards and players who have beaten the dealer are paid. A feature of this version of poker is that the dealer must have an Ace and a King or better in their hand in order to qualify, if they do not have this minimum requirement in their hand then the dealer loses and anyone still in the game, regardless of what is in their hand, will win. Winnings are based the strength of a players hand with two pairs paying out double the bet and four of a kind paying twenty times the bet. In addition there is a progressive bonus payout for hands that contain a flush or better. The game allows the player to change various settings such as the speed of the deal, the minimum & maximum bet and to set automatic reminders for the progressive bet and other gaming situations. It also includes a CD player so that the player can listen to their own music during the game. The game can be played entirely with the mouse, bets being made by dragging & dropping chips onto the table or by clicking on the stack. Alternatively the game can be played entirely via the keyboard or by a combination of the two. There are no save game feature or network play features in this game.
