Overview
Castle Dain is a mini-RPG game for the Apple II computer. Your hero must explore 5 levels of the castle, defeat monsters in turn-based combat, and rescue the king and his daughter. There are puzzles to solve, magic items to retrieve, and a final battle against an evil wizard.
There are four heroes to choose from: the knight Aristodemas, the archer Zoriana, the dwarf Cansloopney, or the elf Lorenleaf. Experience points earned in battle can be used to increase attributes: Strength, Dexterity, Vitality, and Max Vitality. Magic items to be found include potions (healing), amulets (protection), and scrolls (blast attack).
Each floor of the castle has a locked door that prevents you from exploring the next section. Therefore it is necessary to find the key. Reading the descriptions in each room is important to understand what you may need to do next.
This game took inspiration from Atari's Adventure, Starpath's Dragonstomper, Sir-Tech's Wizardry, and Synergistic's Dungeon Campaign.
