Overview
Nova 2001 is a science fiction arcade shooter. The player pilots a single spacecraft on successive offensive missions to clear formations of hostile craft across abstract space sectors.
The player controls a ship that moves freely within a fixed single-screen arena and can fire in eight directions. Enemy formations enter the playfield from multiple sides in waves; a stage is completed when all enemies on the field are destroyed. Occasional items appear that provide temporary weapon upgrades or area-clearing effects.
