Overview
Quarter Horse is a historic horse racing simulation and gambling arcade game released by Electro Sport in 1981. It holds a major piece of gaming history as the very first coin-operated arcade game to utilize LaserDisc technology, predating famous titles like Dragon's Lair.
Instead of computer-generated graphics, the game initiated a "Screen Play" phase that played live-action, pre-recorded footage of real horse races filmed at the Los Alamitos race track.
Up to two players could deposit credits, analyze varying odds for a field of 10 horses, and place their wagers. After the footage finished, the system calculated Win, Place, and Show results and automatically distributed credits.
