Overview
This version of the popular "Ridge Racer" series is famous for its unique cabinet, where players sat inside a real, modified Mazda MX-5 Miata. The car served as the game's controller, complete with functional steering, pedals, and even an ignition key to start the game. The experience is enhanced by a triple-screen display, creating a wide, panoramic view of the racing track. The game also includes physical effects like wind from the air vents and sound effects that replicate engine noises, providing a realistic driving experience.
The setup is enormous and rare, with only a few units ever produced, many of which have been lost or destroyed over time. The game itself runs on Namco's System 22 hardware, and like other titles in the Ridge Racer series, it focuses on high-speed racing with an emphasis on mastering power slides around corners.
