Overview
The Great Word Adventure 1 is an educational game which aims to teach grammar, letters, phonics and word skills to kids between six and nine. The player accompanies Lil' Howie on his adventure through six activities: - Stink Gun - The player has to shoot the words which match the given definition, e.g. all words which are colors. The player can move left and right and shoot directly upwards. However, there are obstacles in the way which bounce the shots around the screen (similar to pinball bumpers). Each correct word rewards points. - Scary Stories - A Word Search game, in which words can be forwards and backwards. This is followed by a rotate squares game, where combo words must be made. - Peanut Scale - A Hangman variant , in which the play must guess Howie's secret word, one letter at a time. - Cheese Game - A Whac-A-Mole variant. The player has to hit the rats which carry words matching the given definition, e.g. all words which rhyme with "land". - Ballroom - Various cartoon characters sing and dance. The player has to choose the correct rhyming words in order to keep the song going. Attic - Several items are represented by their name and a picture. Now the player has to choose the correct one which matches the given definition, e.g. an animal which swims. The games can either be played through the Great Adventure mode (the game chooses what activity to play and tallies up all points) or selected individually.
