Overview
Side by Side is a classic 3D arcade racing game series developed and published by Taito Corporation, debuting in 1996. Running on the Taito JC System Type-C hardware, it is widely recognized as the direct predecessor to Taito's acclaimed Battle Gear franchise.
The game holds a distinct place in retro-gaming history for being one of the earliest titles to heavily focus on Japanese touge (mountain pass) racing and drifting mechanics, arriving just as the real-world culture and series like Initial D were exploding in popularity.
