I Have 1 Day is a point-and-click adventure game with a medieval setting where time plays an important role. The player's character wakes up in a castle's prison cell after having been knocked out while trespassing the castle grounds. The character has one day to solve a mystery to save the kingdom and is kept in jail because the prince's coronation starts at 9 PM. Standard game mechanics include clicking items to interact with them. Items can be stored in an inventory and are used to solve puzzles. In the logbook notes are kept about the current goals. There is a clock in the bottom right corner of the screen and it can be clicked to make time move on an hour. At the same time, using the logbook, it is possible to return in time to specific hours. Rather than a pure time travel game, it rewards players for finding the optimal, least time-consuming route and based on these choices multiple endings can be achieved. Certain events in the game can also on be triggered on specific hours.
