The "Special Effects" arcade machine is a classic UK gaming machine manufactured by Maygay Machines Ltd in the early 1990s. Running on Maygay's unique M1 Video (MV1) hardware platform, it was a hybrid machine that blended a traditional fruit machine (slot) with video-based skill games.
It served as a follow-up to Maygay's highly popular Screenplay machine. It mixed basic slot mechanics, pub-quiz-style trivia, and classic video skill games (reminiscent of titles like Nintendo's Duck Hunt or matching pairs).
