Overview

Steel Gunner 2 is a gun mounted shooting gallery game for one or two players, and it is the sequel to Steel Gunner. Once again, players take the role of Neo Arc policemen, Garcia and Cliff, and this time they are on a mission to destroy the evil army of Vanguard who are attacking the city. Use the light guns to shoot down robots and avoid hitting citizens. There is an on-screen sight for aiming, infinite ammo and a limited amount missiles. Most background objects are interactive, meaning that players can shoot and destroy parked cars, glass windows, street signs even destroy entire buildings. The game uses parallax scrolling and sprite scaling effects with enemies and grenades flying toward the screen and pseudo 3D tunnel sections. There are 6 levels although the game doesn't display typical "level 1" texts, each level ends with the players entering a flying cargo ship that repairs some damage and supplies extra weapons. The game starts in a shopping mall and city streets (level 1), then through subway tunnels and into an abandoned warehouse (level 2), across open sea to an industrial island (level 3), into the industrial complex (level 4), back onto the city streets chasing a giant Independence Day-like spaceship (level 5) and finally inside the giant spaceship (level 6).
