World Football 98

Overview

World Football 98 (also known as Kiko World Football and Puma World Football) is a football (soccer) game. It was released in 1998, just before the 1998 Football World Cup and featured Kiko Narváez, the Spanish national team striker, prominently in the Kiko World Football version. The game was later distributed as a gift when buying Danone yogurts under the name of Danone World Football. It was an ad game, as in the break between halves advertisements are shown. Other names for the game when distributed as a budget release are World Football and Kiko World Football '98. The game contains 358 teams from all over the world and prominently teams from the 97/98 season, totaling 6,086 football players. There are five modes of play: Cup, Friendly, League, Training and Tournament. The game includes the three European cups: Champion's League, Cup Winner's Cup and the UEFA Cup. Games have different weather conditions that influence the game. There are three levels of difficulty and you are able to edit the number of players in the team to implement a handicap. There is also an edit mode for the team, league and cup allowing the player to update for new seasons, create their own teams and championships. Other features include an action replay facility, adjustable speed and support for multiplayer modes (two players or four players via network). There are 1,100 lines of commentary by Sky Sports' Martyn Tyler and 340 animations.
