Overview

Jump Jet is a side-scrolling arcade game for the Apple II. A Loyal Army island has been capture by the Outsider's powerful forces. You play as a Jump Jet pilot, who is stationed on an aircraft carrier off the coast of the island. As a pilot, your job is to protect the Loyal fleet, consisting of destroyers and your large carrier vessel. You must destroy the enemy's cruisers and submarines before they get in range of your fleet. After which, the enemy will launch kamikaze plane attacks, which you must also defeat. After the initial assault has been defeated, the player must fly across enemy territory, avoid enemy fire, land at the enemy headquarters, and force the Outsider general to surrender. While your jump jet has overwhelming firepower and maneuverability, capable of landing vertically, it has limited arms and fuel. It must regularly refuel and re-arm at the friendly carrier, or passing refueling planes. The plane is armed with bombs for destroying targets vertically, and forward facing cannons. If your plane is struck by enemy fire, it is destroyed. You have 3 planes, and when all are destroyed, it's game over. Trivia Falkland Island War The plot is based upon the Falkland Island War. Harrier jets, ie jump jets figured heavily in the British forces, and The Loyal Armed Forces represents the U.K.s Royal Armed Forces.
