War of Aero: Project MEIOU

War of Aero: Project MEIOU is a 2D vertical scrolling futuristic shoot 'em up. The player controls a spaceship and fights against others - he flies straightforward over cities and more futuristic locations, shoots all enemies in sight and hard bosses, avoids one-hit-death obstacles and collects bonuses to increase firepower (similar to options from Gradius).

Trivia:

The "official" flyer for 'War of Aero' uses unauthorized art from Irem's 'Image Fight'. Romstar was supposed to send Allumer the artwork for their international distribution, but went out of business. They were using art to 'Image Fight' as a place holder. The replacement publisher gave up and simply used that with a disclaimer in Japanese stating the art wasn't for their game and oddly, put a censorship box over the eyes of the main pilot.
