Overview

War of the Bugs or Monsterous Manouvers in a Mushroom Maze is a very similar game to Atari's arcade classic Centipede. You control a winged insect who can move about the bottom part of a field of mushrooms, and shoot vertically. The mushrooms act as barriers but can be shot out of the way. Bugs of various types enter the screen and attempt to collide with you, and you must avoid them while racking up points for shooting mushrooms and the enemy. The most notable foe is the centipede, which is made up of autonomous sections and winds its way around the screen, turning when it encounters mushrooms. When all of its sections have been shot, a brand-new centipede spawns at the top of the screen. One or more mystery bugs also bounce around the bottom of the screen. Less frequently seen are spiders, which occasionally leap down from the top of the screen leaving more mushrooms in their wake, and scorpions which scurry across the screen. The game consists of just the one level, which gets progressively more difficult with faster and more numerous enemies.
