Overview

Pandemic 2 is the sequel to Pandemic with features from this version as well as a few new features as well. The goal is still the same, to become a deadly disease, wiping out all of mankind. This time there are 21 distinct countries to attack, anywhere from the U.S., Canada, China and Russia to smaller ones such as Madagascar. There are two different modes to choose from, one is Realistic where all the disease traits are available and there is more strategy involved and will take longer to play. There is also Relaxed where not all of the disease traits are available for use and games are much shorter. There are also three different disease classes to choose from, Virus, Bacteria and Parasite, each with their own strengths and weaknesses. The game is now real-time, whereas the previous version was turn-based. The player can earn points to the game by infecting and killing people, earning these points will give the player chances to unlock more disease traits, making their disease more deadlier, more resistant and the ability to transmit and infect better. Players can infect other countries by infecting humans and more remote areas through seaports and airports. Once countries start to learn of the disease's existent, they will start to act accordingly, by researching vaccines and shutting down borders to stop infection. There are also drastic measures countries will take, such as declaring martial law, exterminating insects and rodents (the player can choose to infect these in the upgrade screen in order to help spread infection), to handing out bottled water, gas masks, shutting down all public transit and even burning bodies to halt the spread. Also catastrophes can help the virus spread, such as hurricanes, earthquakes and droughts. The game will end once either all of mankind is extinct or until the disease is no longer present in the world.
