Overview

World Rally was developed by Zigurat Software in 1993. It was published by Gaelco in Japan and Europe, however Atari published the game in North America World Rally is a driving game based on the world of rally driving. In your car you must complete stages against the clock and try to get a faster time than all your competitors. You have a selection of four courses with three stages, each course harder than the last one and you can only choose the first two. Each course has varying road conditions from tarmac, dirt and snow. There is even night stages with restricted views. Each race is shown from a isometric view and you have 60 seconds to complete the stage. Go over the 60 seconds and it's game over. Get a time under and a leader board is shown with your stage position and overall course position. During a race an arrow appears to show you the next bend ahead. As each race progresses the arrow gets longer with more bends on it. A warning arrow can also appear showing any obstacles ahead ranging from logs, trucks and bridges. On top of the screen there is a bar which shows your time. If the bar is green then you are on course to finish under 60 seconds. If any part turns red then you are on course to finish over 60 seconds. Also on top of the screen is your score, the clock and your speed.
