British Open Championship Golf

Overview

British Open Championship Golf simulates the golf courses St. Andrews and Royal Troon in Scotland. As most golf games from its time it uses filmed and digitalized shots for the courses and the behaviour of a played ball. The control system uses the established 3-click-system where the player sets the destination with the first click. The other two clicks are reaction tests which set the power and height of the shot. There are five playing modes: Match, Stroke, Best-Ball, practice and a tournament.

The game introduces three new features to the genre. Firstly is uses a lot of viewers and terraces to create a realistic golf atmosphere. This is supported by a commentator and multiple anytime usable camera views which are shown in extra windows on the side of the screen. With the "Shot Designer" the player can create and test shots by changing variables like the foot positions. Then he can save them for later usage. The "Caddie's Notebook" gives voiced hints and additional information about each hole.
