Overview

Pentapus is a 1-player science fiction arcade shooter for the Apple II. The player controls a set of boxed in crosshairs, and must destroy alien vessels. The crosshairs can be moved in all directions to blast alien creatures. If the player is shot by the alien creatures, they are destroyed, and the player loses a life. There are 4 difficulty levels: K, 1, 2, 3 which control the number of enemies in each wave. Enemies can scroll off any side of the screen and appear on the opposite. The player's controller can wrap laterally but not vertically on the screen. If the player destroys all monsters they advance to the next level. On level 5, the player encounters the dreaded Pentapus, which serves as the final boss to the game. If the player loses their 5 starting lives, it's game over.
