Overview

Supreme Ruler 2010 is a semi real-time strategy game about world politics, economics, diplomacy, and eventually military might in a quest to achieve world domination, with a focus on detailed management and military strategies. The game starts around 2010. Global depression has reached its peak and what were once united countries start to disintegrate into small province-like countries. The player starts by choosing a specified political map to lead, may it be in Russia, China, Europe, SE Asia, Africa, and from there choose a province to govern as a supreme ruler. Note that due to the extraordinary geographical detail, your country of origin may well be in the game, unless stated otherwise by the campaign/scenario plot. As the ruler of a newly-founded country, strategy and gameplay of the government consist of the following: Economic Policies The welfare of the people is the utmost key element to a strong nation and in this game you start in economic turmoil. Foreign debt, unemployment, inflation, Gross Domestic Product (GDP) levels, interest rates, lack of raw and/or finished goods is what any new government has to deal with and you are no exception. Foreign and Diplomatic Policies You are not alone in this universe and in this case, they're right across the borders of your country. Like it or not, you have neighbors and they have something you want as well as you having something they want. That's where diplomacy comes in. Trade goods, money, research and even military units. Enter trade agreements, military alliances or even war! The international community is watching your every move. Be good and they might even send some much needed foreign aid, be bad and you'd better find a way to fulfill the needs of your people as that embargo won't lift anytime soon. Domestic Politics You may be a monarch, a military dictator, or a democratic president. Either way, your reign won't last forever if you don't play by the rules of the game. Fulfill the needs of the people or they will cast you out of government. You have 4-5 years before election time and make sure your polls are up or you'll end up being the janitor in your own office! Research and Development There's research and there's development. Two separate issues in this game. Research consists of discovering new technologies that may better your military, buildings or even popularity with the people or international community. Development consists of building what your nation needs. Infrastructure, factories, are some of the things you need to build that will make your country a future superpower. Military Might No nation is without a military presence, especially if you have something they don't have. May it be land, resources or just being strategically located, you have to protect what is yours. Build military units: soldiers, ships, planes, submarines, missiles, even Weapons of Mass Destruction to protect your cause and rule. Just be sure you don't build more military than you can actually spend money on and be sure your military units are trained and equipped when D-day arrives.
