Overview

A city building game in the tradition set by the series created by Impressions which begun with Caesar. Medieval Lords is the first themed city building game with a 3D engine. Instead of the "walker" system, Medieval Lords follows the more traditional SimCity approach of connecting roads and zones of influence. When placing a new building, a dirt path automatically appears connecting it with the rest of the town and acting as a "leash", in the sense that it cannot be moved too far from the existing road. When placed, certain buildings project a zone of influence offering bonuses to the houses within. The location of your town affects several factors, such as proximity to water and soil fertility, health, hostile presence, even religious feeling if a henge happens to be nearby. Townfolk have several needs which need to be covered: Hunger, Security, Leisure, Serenity (religion) and others, and there are several buildings covering each need. Catering to those needs is the main focus of the gameplay. Increasing population means more taxes and the ability to construct advanced buildings. Combat is greatly simplified and based mostly on strength of numbers, rather than unit composition and quality. Surrounding your town with walls is a priority that increases the feeling of security amongst the inhabitants.
