Overview

Tropico 3: Absolute Power is the first add-on to Tropico 3. The game features a new, 10 mission long campaign with new and unique challenges like increasing the satisfaction on an island full of nature-loving hippies (all resemblances to actual countries are purely accidental) above a certain point in only 10 years. Besides the new campaign, Tropico 3: Absolute Power also throws 12 new buildings including a garbage dump, a weapons factory and a radar dish, as well as 10 new writs like the national holiday or the assassination of Juanito the annoying radio host, greatly increasing the possibilities and tactical decisions on how the player goes about building up his island empire. Another gameplay addition are the loyalists as a new faction whose size determines how many megalomania points the player earns during his reign. These points are added to the overall performance at the end of the game. Another main addition are the faction disasters. They are triggered once the player has a especially bad relation with one of the factions. For example if the intellectuals hate the current dictator, a student protest will follow, basically shutting down every high school and college on the island. Other changes to the factions include the breakdown of their demands into "important" and "unimportant". Each faction has three important demands (some of which need to be unlocked first) which will significantly increase the player's reputation once fulfilled. The number of unimportant demands is capped at five and the more a faction grows, the more unimportant and ridiculous demands they make. Example? If the religious faction has reached a certain size and the satisfaction rating is over 40% they suddenly demand that the satisfaction rating should be 60%. In addition to the above, the add-on features new kind of streets (gravel road), two new character attributes (Shy and Born in purple) as well as several interface enhancements including quick infos for most of the buildings, showing the most important information about the selected building on the right side of the screen.
