Overview
ZX Draughts is a computer version of the board game checkers, which is also known as English draughts.
The pieces are arranged on the dark squares of an 8x8 board. Play alternates between the white and black pieces. In each turn only one counter may be moved one square diagonally forwards. If an opposing counter blocks a potential move, but there is an empty square on the other side, then you may capture that piece instead by jumping over it, and if you can capture from your new position, you can jump over that piece too. In fact, if you can capture a piece, you must capture, but if there is more than one option, the player may choose which of the pieces to take. Once a piece makes it to the other side of the board, it will promote to a king, which may move or capture diagonally either forwards or backwards. A game finishes when all of one side's pieces have been captured.
Moves are entered by typing the coordinates of the starting square, any intermediate squares (for multiple captures), and the final square for a piece. There are ten levels of difficulty for the computer opponent.
