History:
While the arcade game was released on 1 March 1993, the Sega Genesis (Mega Drive) port wasn't released until the following year on 25 March 2024 (April in North America). The port had to be developed by Tengen (Atari's North American Console Publisher) due to Toaplan's unfortunate financial insolvency and bankruptcy.
The game is notable in that it was created by the same team that would create DonPachi for Cave years later, including Kenichi Takano and Tsuneki Ikeda. As of 2019, the rights are owned by the Tatsujin, a company of former Toaplan members.
It is considered the prototype of the "bullet-hell" shooter, which feature smaller hitboxes, giant bosses, and excessive projectiles filling the screen.
