R-Type

R-Type is a side scrolling shoot 'em up best known for its extremely tough and strategic gameplay. You control the R-9 spaceship as it launches a last-ditch effort to repel the evil Bydo empire.

The player controls a spaceship equipped with a rifle and a powerful, rechargeable laser beam, and their task is to fight their way through 8 gruelling levels to defeat the alien invader. During the flight, it’s worth destroying the jumping droids, which leave behind upgrades for the ship and various weapons. The powerful laser beam can be fired by holding down the fire button for a longer period. Once you’ve acquired a support battle sphere, you’ll be able to use additional weapons. The sphere also provides protection against small projectiles and can be docked either in front of or behind your ship. When launched at vital targets, it wreaks havoc amongst enemy forces.
