Detroit City

Overview

Detroit City is a simple business sim written in Basic and published as a type-in game in a book "Creating Simulation Games on Your Computer". You play as the CEO of a struggling automobile company at a time when the U.S. car market has reached saturation. Starting with four factories and a significant financial loss, your challenge is to steer the company back to profitability.

The game presents simplified elements of manufacturing and sales, tasking players with decisions on production levels, employee numbers, wages, and vehicle pricing. Market conditions, inflation, and factory efficiency add layers of complexity to achieving sustainable success. Success is measured by cumulative profit, with potential outcomes ranging from financial ruin to becoming a board member of the company.
