Overview
In A.D. 2600, war was beginning...
It has been 42 years since the collapse of the Grofian Empire. At its peak, the
empire controlled all the known galaxy. But the empire was plagued by rampant
corruption. Unchecked deficit spending lead to spiraling inflation, and eventually
a catastrophic collapse of the interstellar trade markets. All the worlds of the
empire fell into rebellion and anarchy.
Now, 42 years later, the chaos has subsided. Local Arch-Governors maintain
precarious control over their own worlds. The galaxy has returned to a feudal
system. Politics are dominated by isolationism and distrust.
But in these bleak times, you see opportunity. Using your political savvy and
superior military tactics, you have toppled the Arch-Governor of your world. Not
satisfied with the conquest of just one world, you declare yourself the new
Emperor, and promise to reunite all the star systems under one banner.
The neutral worlds of the galaxy have largely disregarded your new decree.
They will require a more forceful incentive to join your Empire. And there are
rumors of a spreading alien menace, with their own desire for conquest.
You have refitted the industries of your world into a great war machine. The first
Behemoth Class Battlecruisers are already coming off the lines. Your military is
mobilized and ready to strike. And so begins the war of the new empire.
