Overview
Survival is a 1- 6 player strategy game for the 8-bit Atari.
You are stranded on the alien world of Coryphire. Your only chance of survival is to travel 340 km to an abandoned research station. Unfortunately, the planet has difficult terrain and is populated by several carnivorous and hungry life forms. Your skill and cunning are your main tool. You will salvage as much as you can from your starship and begin your trek. With a fair amount of luck, your supplies should last. If you hurry!
The player has a total of 6 days of food to reach their destination, and each day is divided into 3 turns: morning, evening, and night. Each player starts at a preset location on the overhead map, and they can only move during daylight. The player chooses their starting weapons with a limited weight restriction, with each piece having distinct ammo load.
Movement occurs on an overhead map, where the player specifies which direction to travel each turn. There are 8 terrain types, which effect movement speed and possible monster encounters. The player has 6 movement turns per round. During movement, the player can encounter dangerous alien lifeforms. These are fought in ranged and then close combat, where the player must select which weapon to use, and how much ammo they have remaining. Each hit will sap a single health point from the player or enemy.
