Overview
F.S.S. Liberator is a scrolling action game in which the player controls a spacecraft on a mission to recover the stolen F.S.S. Columbus, a prototype starcruiser capable of intergalactic travel. The Columbus is believed to be hidden near the core of a heavily fortified outlaw planet named Meganorma. The player pilots the F.S.S. Liberator through hostile terrain in an effort to locate and reclaim the missing vessel.
Gameplay involves maneuvering the ship in all directions across a rightward-scrolling screen, avoiding incoming missiles and deploying bombs to destroy enemy energy supplies. Destroying these supplies replenishes the ship's fuel reserves, which are necessary for survival. Each level ends when all energy supplies are eliminated, allowing progression to the next stage. If the ship runs out of fuel or is hit, the game ends.
