Overview
Banjo-Kazooie: Nostalgia 64 is an ambitious and lovingly crafted ROM hack for the classic platformer, that sees the bear and bird duo embark on a brand new adventure through the history of the Nintendo 64. Developed by prolific romhack developer Mark Kurko, the hack transports players across a series of brand-new worlds inspired by iconic N64 titles such as Super Mario 64, GoldenEye 007, Donkey Kong 64, and Conker's Bad Fur Day. Each level is packed with familiar sights, sounds, and references, all seamlessly integrated into Banjo-Kazooie's gameplay mechanics. Originally conceived during the COVID-19 lockdowns as a small project titled "Banjo Kazooie Stay At Home," it evolved into a full-length adventure brimming with nostalgia.
This ambitious project features 9 expansive main worlds, 3 additional smaller worlds, and a central Hub World. Players can collect a total of 100 Jiggies, 1,000 musical notes, 115 Mumbo Tokens, and 24 honeycomb pieces, along with various other secrets scattered throughout the game. Nostalgia 64 stands as a tribute to the creativity of the modding community and a celebration of some of the most beloved moments in Nintendo 64 history.
