Overview
Paras is a turn-based strategy game about commanding a squad of paratroopers behind enemy lines. The player leads a team of 15 soldiers through two sequential missions: first, eliminating enemy forces to secure a retreat path; and second, destroying a critical bridge to complete the operation.
The game is played from a top-down perspective and unfolds in discrete turns, each divided into three phases: player movement, player actions (such as firing or deploying explosives), and enemy response. Soldiers can perform various actions, including moving (standing or crawling), shooting, preparing and throwing grenades, or laying and detonating explosives. Weapon effectiveness varies; rifles offer consistent accuracy at range, while grenades and bazookas have area effects but are less reliable due to scatter. Enemy units often remain hidden until they fire, and artillery strikes may occur, requiring troops to go prone to minimize casualties.
