Overview
Inspired by the song Broadsword from the album "Broadsword and the Beast" by Jethro Tull., The Prophecy is a text adventure game about a land under threat from the forces of Salandra, a Dark Lord gathering power in the Southlands. The story is set in the Outer Marshes, where a prophecy foretells the return of a legendary warrior named Thrull. The player takes the role of the chosen one, tasked with collecting three items of power—the sword, the talisman, and the symbol of knowledge—in order to awaken Thrull and prevent Salandra's rise.
The game uses a traditional text adventure interface where players input commands in verb-noun format to explore the world and interact with its elements. Players navigate locations, collect and use items, and solve puzzles to progress. A save and restore feature allows the player to preserve progress during the game.
The Prophecy is the first part of a two-part series titled "The Rising of Salandra," with the sequel being Return of the Warrior.
