Starcop

Overview

"Starcop is a fixed-screen, retro sci-fi arcade shoot-'em-up developed and published by Ediciones Manali. In a premise heavily inspired by classic 80s space patrol tropes, players step into the cockpit of a specialized, cross-shaped interstellar interceptor ship. As an elite member of the galactic police defense force, your assignment is to patrol deep-space sectors and protect the system from waves of invading space pirate fleets.

The gameplay loop centers entirely on fixed-screen tactical action. Players slide their starship horizontally across the bottom margin of the display screen, actively aiming firing vectors upward to clear out grid formations of incoming raider craft. Beyond standard ship navigation, users must precisely track a dual metric interface mapping their active shields and localized defensive battery cells.

True to the architectural limits of early 1990s Spanish budget computing compilations, the engine operates entirely within a strict 4-color CGA graphics configuration (cyan, magenta, black, and white). The title features a striking, stylized split-art loading matrix showcasing a digitized profile of an armored space marshal wearing reflective visors."
