Overview
Castle Thade Revisited is a two-part pure text adventure for the ZX Spectrum 48K, released in 1986 by S.A.E.C. Set in and around the sinister Castle Thade, this expanded and improved version builds on the original game with more content, tougher puzzles, and a richer narrative. Players are drawn into a dark fantasy world where they must uncover secrets, outwit eccentric characters, and survive supernatural threats — from exploring the depths of a cursed wishing well to confronting a giant spider or dealing with an uncooperative hotelier named Mr. Faulty.
The game challenges players with a wide variety of text-based puzzles and encounters that require observation, logic, and experimentation. Although it is divided into two parts, players can tackle each section independently, as completion of the first part is not required to start the second. A helpful set of special commands is displayed at the beginning, and the game includes an in-built help system to guide players through some of its more cryptic moments.
Praised in ZX Monthly for its descriptive and atmospheric writing, Castle Thade Revisited offers a classic 1980s interactive fiction experience that balances humor, mystery, and peril in equal measure. Will you succeed in destroying the Lord of Darkness, or will you join the others in the graveyard?
