Overview
British DMU (Mechanik EN57 Mod) is a fan-made modification created by Steve Green of Trainsimcentral, bringing the Polish train simulator Mechanik EN57 into a British railway setting. The mod replaces the classic EN57 with the iconic British Rail Class 101 DMU, a diesel multiple unit that operated widely across secondary lines in the United Kingdom from the 1950s to the early 2000s.
The modification recreates the Class 101 driver’s cab in a first-person view, retaining Mechanik’s original physics and systems but set within a British route complete with authentic signaling, sounds, and scenery.
Though technically simple, the British DMU Mod is remembered by the community as one of the most creative conversions for Mechanik, expanding the simulator beyond Poland and letting players experience the driving of one of Britain’s most emblematic trains.
