Gamatron (Sonic)

Overview

Gamatron is a rare pinball conversion kit released in 1986 by Segasa-Sonic (Spain) and Pinstar (USA). It was designed to breathe new life into aging Bally and Stern machines by replacing the playfield, backglass, and artwork for a fraction of the cost of a new machine.

Very few kits were sold because, by 1986, the market was moving toward advanced features like ramps and alpha-numeric text displays, which Gamatron lacked.

The table was created by Gary Stern (founder of modern Stern Pinball) during his time at Pinstar, with design contributions from legendary figures like Harry Williams and Steve Kirk. It features a sci-fi/space theme with art by Seamus McLaughlin, reportedly inspired by the ROM: Spaceknight comics.
