Overview
Derby Day is a mouse controlled betting simulation game for up to four players. In this game the player(s) start with £1000 cash. They are presented with a race card which shows fictitious horses at a fictitious course and they make bets on the outcome, only one bet can be made per person per race. The game then runs a animation sequence and the players either win or they lose.
The player(s) can bet any amount they wish, as long as they have the cash to back it up. Available bets are:
- Win: The simplest bet, pick one horse and if it wins then the player receives their cash.
- Each Way: The player picks one horse and is paid is it finishes either first or second.
- Forecast: With this bet the player attempts to pick the horse that will finish first and the horse that will finish second.
The game keeps records of race wins per trainer and per jockey, there are suggestions from tipsters too plus there's a startup option which makes the game 'pre-run' races in order to generate some racing 'form'.
Though all the courses are fictitious the game has the option to bet on races run on UK or European courses, and it can and to use either furlongs or meters as the race distance.
