Overview
In 1961, the "Add-A-Ball" (AAB) pinball machine format was a major industry trend used to bypass anti-gambling laws in states like New York and Wisconsin. Instead of winning "replays" or credits (which could be traded for cash), players won additional balls to extend their current game.
This table, designed by Steve Kordek with artwork by George Molentin, was released in September 1961, and it was Williams' very first AAB game. After Gottlieb complained about the name, Williams re-released it as Skill-Ball later that same year. Reportedly, only a small quantity of tables were made before the name change.
