Overview
Acquire is a computer adaptation of the board game of the same name. Players take the role of investors competing to build and expand hotel chains on a shared grid. By founding chains, influencing their growth and benefiting from mergers, players work to accumulate the greatest wealth before the game concludes.
The game takes place on a 12×10 grid where players place one tile each turn. Tile placement may start a chain, enlarge an existing one or trigger a merger. After placing a tile, players may purchase shares in active chains, with prices determined by chain size.
Mergers award majority and minority bonuses, and shareholders decide how to trade, sell or keep stock from absorbed chains. Players always maintain six tiles in hand, drawing replacements at the end of each turn. Tiles that would connect permanent chains become dead tiles and may be discarded.
The game ends when a chain reaches a large threshold size or all tiles have been drawn. Final bonuses are awarded, shares are sold and the richest player wins.
