Yacht Racing Simulator

Overview

Yacht Racing Simulator is a sailing simulation set around the America’s Cup yacht race. The game draws inspiration from the 1983 America’s Cup, when Australia II ended the New York Yacht Club’s long-standing winning streak. The player competes in regattas modeled after this event, racing against a defending yacht with the goal of winning the cup through a series of tactical sailing contests.

The game is presented from a top-down perspective and focuses on competitive one-on-one yacht racing. The player controls key aspects of sailing, including steering and the handling of the mainsail, jib, and spinnaker, adjusting sail settings in response to wind direction and race conditions. Wind shifts and wind shadows play an important role, requiring careful positioning and course planning to maintain speed and gain an advantage over the opposing yacht. Successful racing depends on effective tacking, sail management, and avoiding collisions while navigating the course.
