Overview
Argonaut is a turn-based space strategy game. The player commands a ship called the Argo during a wider conflict near a place called Xanadu base. Several groups are already fighting in the area, and the Argo enters the middle of the battle with the goal of bringing the hostilities to an end.
The screen is split into three main parts: a small map showing nearby space, a panel listing ship status and keyboard commands, and a message area that reports what happens each turn. Play is turn-based. On a turn, the player chooses actions using assigned keys, such as moving the ship, managing shields and engines, scanning the area, and attacking with different weapons. The player can also communicate by radio, use hyperspace, or let the ship run on autopilot for a turn. The game continues until the conflict is resolved.
