Argo Bros

Overview

Ario Bros is a text-mode platform game for MS-DOS based on the arcade game Mario Bros., which was released the same year. The game takes place on single-screen sewer-style stages where pests emerge and must be cleared before the player can advance.

The game uses a single-screen layout with platforms and ladders. The player moves left and right, climbs between platforms, and jumps to hit the underside of platforms in order to stun enemies standing above them. Once an enemy is stunned, the player moves into its position to remove it from the screen and score points.

Some enemies require multiple hits before they can be defeated. A POW block can be triggered to stun all enemies on screen, though it can only be used a limited number of times. A fireball moves around the screen as a hazard and can end the game on contact. Clearing all enemies completes the stage and advances the game to the next screen.
