You, mild-mannered theoretical physicist, have discovered gateways into the new dimensions and universes. Unfortunately, you've also learned of an alien plot to set up networks of these gateways and, through them, conquer Earth! You can save Earth by leaving your equations, computer, and synchrotrons behind and sallying forth on an adventure to discover these gateways.
