Overview
Astro Blaster places the player in control of a spaceship positioned at the bottom of a single-screen playfield. The ship can move horizontally from left to right while waves of enemy ships approach from above. The player fires weapons to destroy enemies while avoiding incoming laser fire.
Fuel is limited, and firing weapons consumes it. Excessive weapon use causes the ship’s weapons to overheat, temporarily disabling firing until they cool down. The ship is also equipped with a limited time warp ability that slows enemy movement for a short duration. A wave ends when all enemies are destroyed or when the player successfully avoids them and their attacks, after which the next wave begins. The game continues until the player loses all available lives.
